刘义军（唐朝老五）

肥沃的土壤孕育着繁茂的生命，正如敏锐的神经透射出鲜活的艺术感染力，刘义军（唐朝老五），中国第一代摇滚乐的领军人物之一，一直以其独特的音乐语言和对音乐的执着精神影响着年轻一代的音乐人。多年来一直被誉为“中国的吉他民族英雄”。作为最初唐朝乐队的主创成员，老五被大家公认是唐朝乐队的灵魂人物之一。

1989年与台湾的滚石唱片公司签约并出版首张乐队专辑《梦回唐朝》，在这张专辑中老五用那酣畅淋漓，摄人心魂的琴声感动着周围的每一个人，诠释着对生活的感悟，对音乐的向往。也正是刘义军出神入化的演绎与极富激情的表现力被当年英国的〈spin〉杂志评为“亚洲最伟大的吉他手”。同样由于其独特的音乐风格被大家所喜爱，所以被乐迷们亲切的称为“唐朝老五”。并于1992年获年度“白金唱片奖”。多年来同乐队多次出访德国，日本，香港等国家和地区进行文化，音乐交流，所到之处得到强烈反响。1995年在香港红勘体育馆“中国摇滚乐势力”音乐会上，其精湛的演奏及对音乐近乎完美的演绎，折服了在场的所有观众。有报道称这次演出是中国大陆摇滚乐的里程碑。并于1997年接受了政府颁发的“音乐成就奖”。

1999年，老五首张个人专辑《再度归来》问世，作为其新音乐方向的第一步尝试，得到了广泛的认可，并有行家认为他已超越了摇滚乐的局限，开拓了中国现代音乐的又一新方向。2008年6月，乐队第三张专辑《浪漫骑士》问世，在这张专辑中老五醇厚流畅的琴韵，华丽、大气，宛若行云流水，一气呵成。

由于对音乐追求纯净的释放，2009年1月老五再度离开乐队。

在20多年的音乐之路上，他一直孜孜以求，不断的寻找着音乐与心灵的契合。其对华丽五声音乐的深入研究，使其成为当代中国真正.具有自己文化语言的音乐家。

鲜活才是艺术真正的生命力所在，作为中国最杰出的音乐人之一，老五（刘义军）从未停下他前进的步伐。正是他多年对音乐的感悟促成了他对生命的认知有了另一种表述---绘画（视觉艺术）。

自从九十年代初一次偶然的机会拿起画笔，老五自此从未间断过与画布之间的对话。并于2009年3月应邀参加在上海当代艺术馆举办的《无界，黑匣子》新艺术展，其音乐和绘画的作品引起多方关注，很多当代杰出艺术家对其作品做出高度的肯定，认为老五的绘画是真正的自由释放。

2015年3月21日老五在北京798艺术区成功的举办了第一次绘画个展，在中国当代艺术圈内引起强烈反响，更有艺术家评论老五是野生达利，能量的自由生长。

声音和视觉的交融展现出其（老五）生命的自然律动。。。展现着生命能量的无限可能。

正如老五所说：“我所表达的正是神经末梢所释放的跃动，那才是鲜活的生命”也许只有这样的纯粹，才能真正的体现出艺术的真意，生命的自在。

The Vibration of Life

Fertile soil impregnates luxuriant life; so does a sensitive mind cultivate fresh artistic inspiration. LiuYiJun (TangChaoLaoWu), He is a leading figure of the first generation rock-n-roll musicians in China.

For years he has been honorably regarded as the National Guitar Hero of China. he is still exerting his influence on a younger generation of Chinese musician with his unique way of playing and thinking. 

In 1989, he signed with the TaiWan Rolling Stone Company and released the first album of the band. In the album, Lao Wu with his fervent and hearty guitar music moved all the listeners, conveying his perception of life and longings in music. Because of his magical playing and passionate expressiveness, he was commented as the greatest guitarist in China in the British magazine《Spin》 and won the annual Platinum Album Award of 1992. 

Since 1992, together with his band, he had for many times visited such countries and regions as Germany, Japan and Hong Kong, etc., performing both cultural and musical exchanges during his visits. Wherever he went, he had been enthusiastically received. In 1995, in the concert named “The Power of Chinese Rock” held at Hong Kong Hung Kam Gymnasium, his superb playing and almost perfect musical interpretation won over all the audience, whose applause and bravoes went on and on! It was reported that this performance was a milestone for the rock music of Mainland China. As the most outstanding guitarist in China, he received the Musical Achievement Award from the government in 1997. 

In 1999, his first individual album Lao Wu of Tang Dynasty: <Return One More Time> released. As the first experiment of his new musical orientation, the album has been widely recognized. Some experts even hold that he had already broken the limits of rock music and opened up one more frontier in the realm of Chinese contemporary music. In the same year, he acted as the Image Spokesman of Ibanez (1999-2002).

In 2008, released the third album of the band，the sublimity and loftiness in his rhythm, and his iconoclastic and ecstatic playing conquered and fascinated millions of listeners.

On the road of music more than 20 years, he search the harmonious of hart and music constantly. He become the real musician that has his own music language in contemporary China.

Freshness is the essence of real artistic life. As one of the most significant musicians of China, Lao Wu has never stopped his forward-marching steps. It was just his many years’ reflections on music that brought him to a different way to express his perception of life: painting (visual art).

Ever since the early 1990s when he picked up the brush out of pure coincidence, he has never stopped dialoguing with the canvas. He attend the exhibition named “No Boundary: Black Box” in Shanghai Contemporary Art Museum in March 2009。His composition was expound “the real free release of life ”by the critic.

Lao Wu successfully held his first solo painting exhibition in 798 Art District in Beijing on 21th March 2015. Caused strong reaction from the contemporary art circle in China. Even some artist comment he as a ferine Dali, energy grows with liberty.

The interaction between sound and vision reveals the natural tempos of his life, and unfolds infinite possibilities of its energy.

Just as Lao Wu said, “what I expressed is the vibration of the nerve ends, -- only that is real life.” Maybe only such purity can truly manifest the essence of art and the freedom of life.
